Bardo Lunar

Muere en mi cada llegada de la luna,
y te lamento...
 Con temblores y rayos
no te puedo negar,
no te puedo evitar...
Y EN SILENCIO
me sumerjo en luto de rosa roja

desintegrada...
Me entregare a la pena
y pasare el bardo
una vez mas...
En ese espacio
que me sostenga y fortalezca...
En ese espacio
donde nada existe en el momento...
En ese espacio
donde nada te disturbe...
Nace una vez mas
con el libre albedrío
inherente, inseparable...
Una vez mas,
una vez mas despacio y con fuerza
DESPIERTA
que el tiempo,
esta aquí

Die in me every arrival of the moon
and I lament you
with earthquakes and lightning
I can't deny you
I can't avoid you
and in silence
I submerge in the mourning of red rose
desintegraded
I'll surrender to the pain
and pass the bardo
one more time
in that space
that sustains and strengthens me
in that space
where nothing else exists in the moment
in that space
where nothing else disturbs you…
Born once more
with the free will
inherent, inseparable
one more time...
One more time slowly and with strength
wake up
that the time,

is here...

Viva Mexico

In Frida's shadow

As a female Mexican artist, you can not help but be in Frida's shadow. She is the icon for Mexican artists. Almost every artist in Mexico will paint Frida. Its almost expected. I wanted to be a little different. So I painted myself, in likeness of her. I do have great respect and admiration for her. So this is my Frida version.

Nana

My beautiful grandmother died September 16…it was so unexpected. I can remember spending summers with her as a child. She was the rock of the family, so strong, yet loving and kind. She was the first woman to show me that life could be full of possibilities as long as I put my mind to it. She was rooted deep in our old traditions from table manners to making her own make up from flowers. As a child, staying with her in the summer, I rememeber her waking us up with fresh hot coffee, mostly milk and sugar, but she would milk the goats and make the coffee and bring to us in our beds. She will live in my heart forever.

I was mourning my Grandmother and my heart was aching. This painting came thru me from my grief and loss of an amazing woman in my life. It helped me release the pain of loosing her. "Rootless" oil on canvas 36x24". Sold to private collector.

Fall colors

We had what they call an Indian summer this year! It has been a beautiful colorful fall in Colorado! The gold is so vivid, and is breathtaking. The month of October was so inspiring to me from the colors. I was seeing it everywhere. Even in my Son's friends hair!
This is Soraya, my son's friend. She came over just the other day and her hair shine like the trees outside my window.

We like to hike to these trees in my backyard. Golden bliss!

Progresión de pintura

I wanted to share with you, the progression of this painting. I love the expression on the woman's face. She is a powerful, wise and loving elder, mother , grandmother. Even though she has lost her colors, her beauty remains, her strength remains, and her wisdom is great. I could have made her neck perfect but that wasn't the point. She is beyond perfection. Because does everything HAVE to be perfect!

The Evergreen Art Open: A Colorado Artist Juried Show

This painting was fun to play with the lighting. She is so graceful to me. And its about contemplation, what is she thinking about. From september 22 to October 26 this painting will be in an exhibition of Colorado artists. This is a Artist Juried Show, and is called, The Evergreen Art Open in Evergreen CO. The show will take place at Main Street Art Gallery.

Chokurei's Yaktober Fest Photo-shoot

Having a blast on my friends Yak ranch, we did a Photo shoot for the poster Yaktober Fest.  My husband, the photographer, had an adventure trying to take photos of us while fending off some hyper male steers! I love this picture and our colors, SO fun and exciting taking photos with live huge animals! This is a fun local Festival that started last year by Chokurei Ranch. It's a fun fall family party with music and entertainment all day. I will be preforming there this year! I was inspired after the photo shoot to make these earrings. They feel fall festive..click here to purchase
Rancher Kyle was feeding the Yak to keep them at bay, but I don't think  he realizes that I'm wearing red! It may be an old wise tail BUT I don't want to find out! lol

Aspen Leaf

The season is now changing. I found myself completely inspired when I  saw my first aspen leaf turning just a few days ago. I remember how much I love fall with all the beautiful colors. Every year I collect some of the more gold leaves and keep them for as long as they last, which in my opinion they never last long enough!. This was my inspiration for this pair of earrings…click here to purchase

American Tribal Style

I began dancing American Tribal Style after seeing a show that Crestone Tribal put on here in Crestone in 2011. It featured Carolena Nericcio and Colleena Shakti, among other great, talented dancers. The strength, the beauty - which were simultaneously so graceful - fascinated me. I went to the next beginner's class and loved it. Seeing the art of this dance opened my horizons as an artist. I've really enjoyed trying to capture, in paintings, the movement, the elegance, the colors, the force, the femininity among other things.
There is no doubt that the dance has helped connect me to my femininity. I feel that I have come to place of reconciliation with my own womanhood; something I didn't even know I needed. I feel more comfortable in this aspect, and also more confident in myself. It doesn't matter that we are different physically; the joy when we dance together is the same.

Gold and Blue

The inspiration for this painting was from right outside my window in the winter. The sunflowers had died and gone away but colorful life still existed. When they all came to feast on the leftover seeds. The name is Full Gathering.
The earrings were inspired by the bright colored native blue birds we have here in Colorado.
Tribal belly Dancing at a benefit concert. The color of my skirt matchings the bluebirds:)
